Abstract

In this paper, we show that a comprehensive analysis of temporal network evolution requires to consider measures of non-structural changes, in addition to classical topological indicators. We employ a recently proposed measure of non-structural dynamics, together with other structural indicators, to analyze the time evolution of three subnetworks, extracted from the Italian corporate board network. Consistently with recent literature, we show that, to different extent, both structural and non-structural changes are present and must be accounted for, in order to get a satisfactory description of their temporal evolution.

It operates in daily newspapers, magazines and books, radio broadcasting, new media and digital and satellite TV, advertisement sales and distribution markets. Looking at the ownership, among the RCS shareholders there are some important listed italian companies from financial institutions, insurance and industrial sectors (Mediobanca S.p.A, Intesa Sanpaolo, Pirelli S.p.A, Fiat S.p.A, Assicurazioni Generali, Fondiaria Sai); thus, many important Italian families (Pesenti, Tronchetti-Provera, Ligresti and Agnelli) are present in RCS board.

3
Intesa Sanpaolo S.p.A is a banking group, born in 2007 by the merge of Banca Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI. Currently, it is the second largest Italian banking group, after Unicredit Group.

Two companies are indirectly tied when there is no edge between them, i.e. they are not adjacent but are connected by a path passing through other nodes.
