In this paper, we provide a concise survey of software reliability modeling procedures as an indication of the complex variety of such procedures. We then provide a preliminary design for the Software Reliability Consultant (SRC), describing the current state of its development as well as future plans. SRC provides guidance in the choice of an appropriate performance measure and an effective modeling procedure for an arbitrary software reliability dat set.
