Abstract

China is one of the richest countries in the world for the diversity of its biological resources. However, China has suffered serious losses of biological resources in recent years, due to the burgeoning growth of economic globalization, international trade, and technology exchange. This comment analyzes data from ports of Entry–Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau in all China (except Tibet) from 2008 to 2011. This enables an estimate of the extent of the export trade of biological resources to be made, and suggests additional measures should be taken to extend the protection afforded to China’s biological resources.
