Zusammenfassung

Globale Wertschöpfungsketten rücken spätestens seit dem verheerenden Unfall von Rhana Plaza oder den Debatten um menschenrechtliche Verfehlungen von Unternehmen beispielsweise in der Textil- oder Bergbau- und Mineralbranche in den Fokus der gesellschaftlichen Debatte. Mit der wachsenden globalen Verflechtung von Unternehmen, wächst auch deren Verantwortungsraum für die ökologischen, sozialen wie menschenrechtlichen Auswirkungen, die in Verbindung mit ihren Tätigkeiten stehen. Transparenz, Nachvollziehbarkeit und die Einhaltung von Normen sind Forderungen, die Investoren, Verbraucher, Aufsichtsbehörden sowie Umwelt- und Menschenrechtsgruppen in Form von unternehmerischen Sorgfaltspflichten an Unternehmen im Zusammenhang mit der Einhaltung von Nachhaltigkeitskriterien verlangen.
