In den letzten Jahrzehnten sind die ersten Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auch direkt spürbar geworden. Eine globale gesellschaftliche Herausforderung ist der Wandel zu einer decarbonisierten Energiewirtschaft, die alle Energiesektoren überspannt, um den Klimawandel zu bremsen. Weltweit steigen die Anteile an erneuerbaren Energien und viele Länder streben ein vollständig erneuerbares Energiesystem an.
