Abstract

High-manganese austenitic Hadfield steel is the main material for manufacturing parts for mining, crushing, and grinding equipment. A key role in material property formation is played by chemical composition, the adjustment of which, with the introduction of alloying elements, may significantly improve operational performance. This article presents determination of steel 110G13L optimum chemical composition, while maintaining requirements for impact strength. Of particular interest is thorough analysis of data for a wide range of major elements: C from 0.9 to 1.3% and Mn from 11 to 16%. Mathematical statistics and forecasting tools are used for processing results, which makes it possible to accept with sufficient reliability analysis results for the Fe–1.1C–12.87Mn–0.6Si–0.4Cr system for subsequent research.
