Volkswagen recommends the use of AUTOSAR release 3.2 where a benefit for electronic control unit suppliers and OEM is given. All Volkswagen requirements have been incorporated into release 3.2 and the integration of Volkswagen specific modules as complex device drivers is possible. According to AUTOSAR’s motto “Cooperate on standards, compete on implementation”, the OEM allows to employ several pre-assessed basic software (BSW) implementations from different suppliers.
