Abstract

The article delves into the critical issue of covert communication in UAV networks, where the presence of illegal users poses significant security threats. By exploiting channel uncertainty, particularly the imperfect cancellation of public signals, the authors propose a method to enhance the covertness and reliability of UAV communications. The study establishes a system model under block fading channels, considering both large-scale and small-scale fading, and introduces channel uncertainty to describe imperfect channel state information. The authors derive the covertness condition of transmission power and explore the reliability conditions for both covert and public signals using outage probability as an indicator. Extensive numerical simulations validate the effectiveness of the proposed method, demonstrating significant improvements in covertness and reliability compared to traditional schemes. The article concludes by highlighting the importance of channel uncertainty in covert UAV communication and suggests future research directions, including the consideration of UAV maneuverability.
