Das Mastverhalten von Bäumen im Wandel

zusammenfassung

Seit fast einem Jahrhundert beschäftigen sich Wissenschaftler:innenaus unterschiedlichen Fachrichtungen der Ökologie, aber auch die forstliche Praxis mit dem Phänomen der Mast, welches die synchrone Produktion großer Samenmengen einer Pflanzenpopulation ganzer Regionen in sehr unregelmäßigen Jahresintervallen beschreibt (Kelly, 1994; Pearse et al., 2016). Dieses Phänomen ist ein wesentlicher Teil des pflanzlichen Reproduktionsverhaltens und ist vor allem bei Bäumen der gemäßigten Klimazonen beobachtet worden. Das sogenannte Mastverhalten wurde nicht nur bei Baumarten beobachtet, sondern auch bei anderen Pflanzengruppen, wie zum Beispiel bei zahlreichen Bambusarten und anderen Vertretern aus der Familie der Süßgräser (Kelly & Sork, 2002).
