As a result of the move toward vehicles with electric powertrains, car manufacturers are having to modify their conventional development and test processes or take completely new approaches. One useful option could be the digital representation of electric driving characteristics. This can involve using a simulation system for end-to-end integration that allows a variety of technical options to be subjected to specific tests. Thus, market requirements can be met in the context of the complete vehicle and a balance can be achieved between performance, ride comfort, and efficiency with electric drive topologies. This would allow powertrain calibration processes to be carried out reproducibly with automated test runs. …
