Effect of PANI addition on structural, optical and electrical characteristics of PVC/Sn0.9Fe0.1S2 polymer

Abstract

Poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC)/Sn0.9Fe0.1S2/x wt% Polyaniline (PANI) polymers were produced using the solid state reaction method under flows of nitrogen and casting methods. The structure and microstructure characteristics of the Sn0.9Fe0.1S2 were performed using Rietveld analysis. X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared, Energy dispersive x-ray and scanning electron microscope techniques were used to investigate the constituent elements and surface morphology of the different polymers. The possibility of doping PVC to apply in UV spectra shielding or use as band pass filter for laser protection was investigated. The direct/indirect optical band gaps for PVC (4.94/4.57) eV were reduced to 3.23/1.81 eV as it doped with Sn0.9Fe0.1S2 and PANI. The impact of PANI and Sn0.9Fe0.1S2 on the refractive index, extinction coefficient, dielectric parameters, optical conductivity, nonlinear optical parameters and dc conductivity and activation energy of PVC was explored. The fluorescence intensity of PVC was improved as it was loaded with Sn0.9Fe0.1S, and greatly enhanced for PVC/Sn0.9Fe0.1S2/PANI.
