We regret having misinterpreted the accuracy of Dr. Derbyshire’s method in our discussion section. In his study of 2008, he used a 3-D CAD model to simulate ‘X-ray’ radiographs with a central beam offset of 110 mm medial and 45 mm inferior to the cup opening. Anteversion was corrected ‘exactly’, and the inclination error was less than \(0.16{^{\circ }}\). We wrongly reported that ‘Derbyshire validated his method virtually and showed a reduced error range of \(-0.4{^{\circ }}\) to \(0.8{^{\circ }}\)’. De facto, Dr. Derbyshire investigated a potential error, if the X-ray target point of the central beam is mistakenly assumed to be 10 mm from its true position. The potential error was \(\pm 0.4{^{\circ }}\) and is not associated with the formulae. However, our study was not designed to compare our method with that developed by Dr. Derbyshire; therefore, our results and the main conclusion of our study remain unaffected. …
