Abstract

Confronting with the increased severe electromagnetic waves pollution, synthesis of perovskite-type oxides, like PrMnO3, microwave-absorbing materials with strong reflection loss (RL) and broad effective absorption bandwidth have attracted extensive attention because of their potential application in all kinds of areas. Herein, Pr1−xSrxMnO3 perovskites with different doping Sr-content were synthesized through the sol–gel strategy. The effects of Sr doping on microstructure and magnetic properties was studied by the corresponding equipment, respectively. Microwave absorption properties were investigated according to the transmission line theory. Simulation studies show that Pr0.9Sr0.1MnO3 sample in a wax matrix exhibits the strongest reflection loss of −50.21 dB at 12.08 GHz at a thickness of 2.5 mm. Its effective absorption bandwidth (RL < −10 dB) is up to 10.4 GHz, ranged from 7.6 to 18 GHz with a thickness of 1.9–3.1 mm. Remarkably, the maximum effective bandwidth of Pr0.95Sr0.05MnO3 power can be reached to 6.96 GHz at 2.5 mm. The results suggest that the Sr addition is beneficial to enhance the absorption performances both in wide bandwidth and excellent microwave absorption. This simple synthesis method can be used as major candidate for designing and fabricating ideal microwave absorber.
