Zusammenfassung

Jugendliche, die sich von Erwachsenen entfremden, fühlen sich oft zu negativen Peerkulturen hingezogen und sind so Risiken ausgesetzt. Die Positive Peer Culture (PPC) baut auf den Stärken der Jugendlichen auf und motiviert sie dazu, sich gegenseitig zu helfen und respektvolle Beziehungen zu Erwachsenen aufzubauen. Dieser Ansatz wird von der Forschung zur Resilienz und zur positiven Entwicklung der Jugendlichen unterstützt. Der Autor zeigt die Entstehung dieses Modells auf, das auf den Grundbedürfnissen des Circle of Courage beruht, nämlich Zugehörigkeit, Kompetenz, Unabhängigkeit und Großzügigkeit. Jugendliche erklären, wie wirksam es ist, wenn Peers einander helfen können, und die Forschung zeigt auf, dass Großzügigkeit ein grundlegendes Element in der Entwicklung von Resilienz und prosozialen Werten ist.
