Abstract

The concept of hidden correlation of noise signals is introduced. Theoretically, the existence of a hidden correlation between narrow-band noise signals extracted simultaneously from a broadband band-limited noise is proved. A method for estimating the latent correlation of narrow-band noise signals has been developed and experimentally investigated. An experiment was conducted where a temporal fragment of band-limited noise was used as the signal under investigation, the basis of which is shot noise. It was found that when applying the Pearson criterion between the signal at the center frequency and the sum of the signals at the mirror frequencies, virtually no correlation is found, and when using the proposed method for analyzing the same signals, a strong hidden correlation is found. The proposed method is useful for specialists involved in digital signal processing, as well as developers of measuring tools using a new technology for extracting a useful signal from noise – the method of mirror noise images.
