Abstract

Power converters have become integral part of integrating most of the renewable energy resources into the grid. They can be considered as heart and soul of any grid-connected RES whether small scale or large scale. Amalgamation of these converters with the grid has been quite pragmatic, but it is very much obvious, every good thing has its own downside and in similar manner power converters being reliable, efficient and nearly maintenance free, have many demerits as well. Some of them have tendency to add harmonics into the system, deviation of supply frequency, grid desynchronisation etc. Lots of techniques, control schemes etc. have been suggested to reduce these power quality issues. SRF theory, ILST theory, and various other schemes have been described in the literature. Here, SRF theory is utilised to synchronise grid with the DG’s and produce the best possible power quality at load and grid side. Along with that the amalgamation of analogue filter has been described and its role and impacts of filter presence have been discussed. The results have been justified in MATLAB.
