The principal types of environmental problems and deterioration and the main sources of pollution are identified in an official report as follows:1Water, in terms both of quality and quantity, is a major problem in Morocco. Indeed, excessive pumping, imperfect sewage and draining systems in urban agglomerations, insufficient collection and treatment of industrial effluents, soil erosion, and the excessive and irrational use of pesticides in certain agricultural regions have led to the depletion and poor quality of water resources.
