Abstract

A wide range of fuel and lubricant products are produced from natural gas and petroleum, including gases, naphtha, kerosene, middle distillates, gas oils, lubricant base oils, waxes, coke, asphalt, etc. For use as transportation fuels, naphtha, kerosene, middle distillates and gas oils have to meet product specifications, such as octane rating for gasoline and cetane number for diesel. Kerosene has to meet strict specifications for use as jet fuel. Gas oils that meet specifications are used as heating oils and fuel oils. Additives are added to these fuels for improving performance and stability.
