Zusammenfassung

Im Begriff der Ökosystemdienstleistungen kulminieren Bemühungen von Ökolog*innen und Ökonom*innen, den Wert intakter Ökosysteme anschaulich in zeitgenössischen modernen Gesellschaften zu vermitteln. Kontroversen darüber, wie „Ökosystemdienstleistungen“ zu definieren sind und wie deren Wert zu welchem Zweck bemessen werden kann, haben ein eingängiges Governance-Instrument hervorgebracht. Dass Investitionen in die Erhaltung und Sicherung intakter Ökosysteme für Gesellschaften existenziell sind, ist als Topos aus der Öffentlichkeit nicht mehr wegzudenken. Dieser Beitrag führt in den Diskurs ein und verdeutlicht, wie der Begriff gesellschaftliche Wirkungen entfaltet.
