Without power semiconductors, there will be no electrification of the powertrain nor electric mobility. SiC is the preferred material particularly for higher voltage levels; at 400 V, IGBTs are currently trying to establish itself alongside SiC. ATZelectronics spoke with Aly Mashaly about current trends in this area
Aly Mashaly is the Director of the European Application and Technical Solution Center at Rohm. He is an expert in power electronics, in particular for automotive applications, and worked for a long time as a development engineer and project manager in the field of e-mobility and aerospace applications. He is also a regular speaker at a variety of conferences including PCIM, ECPE, EPE, and CS International.
