Unter einer Oxidationsreaktion versteht man einen Vorgang, bei dem ein Stoff Elektronen abgibt, z. B.: (1)$$ [tex]NaN{a^ + } + e[/tex] $$(2)$$ [tex]2{I^ - }{I_2} + 2e[/tex] $$(3)$$ [tex]F{e^{ + + }}F{e^{ + + + }} + e[/tex] $$(4)$$ [tex]{H_2}2{H^ + } + 2e[/tex] $$ Findet die umgekehrte Umsetzung statt, d. h., nimmt ein Stoff Elektronen auf, so haben wir es mit einer Reduktionsreaktion zu tun.
