Martin Daum has been made a Member of the Daimler Board with effect from 1 March. The 57-year-old will be responsible for the Daimler Trucks and Daimler Buses divisions. He succeeds Dr. Wolfgang Bernhard, who has left the company for personal reasons and at his own request. Since June 2009, Daum has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Daimler Trucks North America and its affiliated companies Freightliner Trucks, Western Star Trucks, Thomas Built Buses, Freightliner Custom Chassis Corporation and Detroit Diesel Corporation. Before that, he was Vice President for Production at Mercedes-Benz Trucks and a Member of the Board of Mercedes-Benz Trucks in Europe. At the same time, he was responsible for the Mercedes-Benz plant in Wörth, Germany. Daum started his career in the trainee executive group of Daimler-Benz AG in 1987.
