Accurate permeability prediction for reservoir rocks is vital to maximizing the efficiency of the hydrocarbon industry (Rashid et al. 2015a, b; Al-Zainaldin et al. 2017; Nazari et al. 2019). Nevertheless, the permeability of tight rocks is an extremely difficult parameter to obtain (Glover et al. 2006; Cui et al. 2009; Moghadam and Chalaturnyk 2017). The pulse-decay technique is one of the effective approaches used to measure the permeability of tight rocks (Hussein et al. 2017; Rashid et al. 2017; Lis-Śledziona 2019; Al-Khalifah et al. 2020). For very tight reservoir rocks, however, this technique is time-consuming and expensive, resulting in only a limited number of permeability assessments being carried out on cores. Clearly, it is valuable to accurately predict the permeability of tight rocks using less expensive and more reliable methods. …
