Physical and Mechanical Properties of Filled Nanocomposites Based on Thermoplastic Copolymers of Ethylene with α-Olefins

Abstract

The results of a study of the influence of the concentration of various types of fillers at the nanoscale level (zinc stearate, aluminum, carbon black) on the physical and mechanical properties of nanocomposites based on copolymers of ethylene with α-olefins are presented. The copolymers used were ethylene–propylene random copolymer (random polypropylene), ethylene–propylene block copolymer, and ethylene–hexene copolymer. In order to improve the compatibility of polyolefins with fillers, a copolymer of high-density polyethylene with maleic anhydride was used as a compatibilizer. It has been established that the use of a compatibilizer contributes to a significant improvement in the basic physical and mechanical characteristics of nanocomposites, which indicates technological compatibility of the mixed components of the mixture with the polymer matrix.
