Project Upper Crust (PUC) is part of the United States continental scientific drilling program and is funded through DOSECC, Inc. The project represents one end of the continental scientific drilling spectrum in that it focuses on relatively low-cost existing drill holes known as “holes of opportunity” and covers a broad geographic region. This paper summarizes Project Upper Crust: its scientific rationale, methods of operation, and recent results.
