New Stratos
The New Stratos was developed and built by Michael Stoschek, Chairman of the Brose Group, together with his son Maximilian, but plans for a small production run were blocked by Ferrari seven years ago. Paolo Garella, CEO of Manifattura Automobili Torino and former director of the New Stratos project, has now received permission to replicate the New Stratos. The first vehicle is set for delivery by April 2018.
The design of the wedge-shaped sports car follows that of the original Lancia, despite its increased size. On a shortened chassis of a Ferrari F430 Scuderia, a Pininfarina-designed carbon-fibre body incorporates the Scuderia’s key features such as the wedge shape, the windscreen design, flared wheel arches, roof and rear spoilers, as well as round rear lights.
The New Stratos will be unveiled in Geneva
Prototypes are powered by a longitudinally-mounted Ferrari V8 mid-front engine. The successor to the Lancia Stratos HF delivers 397 kW (540 hp) and 519 newton metres of torque. Power is transmitted via a six-speed sequential transmission with a mechanical locking differential.
The New Stratos, which has been limited to just 25 units, can be assembled in different versions such as a GT racing car, a special Safari version or as a super sports car for everyday use. MAT will present the New Stratos in all its versions at the Geneva International Motor Show in 2018.
