RISC-V is a potential game changer for the development of automotive systems such as lidar, radar or automotive gateways. Embedded designers now have the choice of either building their products on one of the proprietary commercial processor architectures or using the open RISC architecture. RISC-V processor architectures can be used in a variety of automotive systems. For safety-critical applications in the vehicle, pre-certified IP blocks and tool chains are advantageous for the developer, as Fraunhofer IPMS shows. …
