In order to master future requirements for the reduction of greenhouse gases, all relevant technologies have to be investigated, their potential for CO 2 reduction determined and the impact on other attributes as product cost or drivability evaluated. For the selection of main powertrain parameters of Commercial Vehicles (CV) at an early stage in the development process, a reasonable combination of expert knowledge and mathematical optimization processes is necessary.
