In past years, car manufacturers have not taken the issue of speedometer manipulation all too seriously. However, in the last few months, the OEMs have come under pressure, among other things through the initiative of the ADAC. They have an image problem — and if they consider their rental cars and vehicle fleets, they are also faced with substantial financial losses. The ADAC has drawn up a list of requirements. Manipulation is to be made so difficult that it is no longer worth it. This could already be done today, as it is possible to fall back on existing electronic components that are already in use for various control and monitoring functions in the vehicle.
