Audi has developed a new generation of turbocharged 4.0-l V8 gasoline engines to replace the naturally aspirated 5.2-l V10 units in the A6 and A8 series. Key features of the new V8 TFSI are the arrangement of the turbochargers and the exhaust manifold in the inside V of the engine and cylinder on demand. The V8 is available in power versions with outputs between 309 and 382 kW. This second part of the report describes thermodynamics and calibration of the new engine. The design and mechanical components were presented in the fi rst part in MTZ 2. …
