Abstract

The article delves into the microstructural characteristics and mechanical properties of Al-Cu-Ni-Fe cast alloys with Gd micro-addition. It discusses the transformation of the network structure parameters during tensile tests and the impact of Gd on the alloy's high-temperature performance. The study reveals that Gd addition enhances the interconnectivity and curvatures of the intermetallic phases, contributing to improved high-temperature strength. The work also introduces a novel method for characterizing the 3-D network structure using X-ray microscopy, providing valuable insights into the alloy's mechanical behavior. The findings offer promising avenues for developing heat-resistant Al alloys for high-performance applications.
