The accelerating technological development as well as fundamental structural changes in economics and the labour market have gradually lead to the break-up of tight occupation patterns and traditional evidences of qualification in Europe. In this situation Career Portfolio, already very popular in the USA, provides new opportunities for an authentic and comprehensive portrayal of a person’s vocation-related competencies. The Career Portfolio thereby is not reduced to the assessment of formally acquired competences and vocational experiences, but also considers competences gained from occupational or informal contexts. So the Career Portfolio cannot only be applied in recruitment processes, it can also be part of vocational training, academic studies, and in measurements of personnel development.
