I read the technical note entitled “Assessment of some brittleness indexes in rock-drilling efficiency” by Rasit Altindag, Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering, doi: 10.​1007/​s00603-009-0057-x. This note aims at establishing the relationship between brittleness and drillability of various rocks. However, there are several uncertainties in the note regarding both the brittleness effect on the rate of penetration and the presented brittleness classification for drillability of rocks.
