The geometry of a vehicle must be optimised very early in relation to the wind noise. For this, a new method was developed at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, which allows the simulation technical prediction of wind noise on motor vehicles. For this purpose the development of a novel two-dimensional microphone array was necessary, which allows the separation of acoustic and hydrodynamic waves in a flow field. The Doctoral thesis awarded the Hermann Appel Prize 2014 of IAV in the field vehicle development. …
