As the title indicates, this book, expertly edited by Fernando Reimers, presents a comparative study of how six nations (England, Colombia, Mexico, India, Cambodia and the United States) design and implement large-scale professional development programs for teachers to educate their students in a broad range of twenty-first century domains such as higher order cognitive skills and socio-emotional competencies. Each case represents an effort to empower teachers for deep instruction on a broad set of goals. But given the different context, each program understandably differs from others in its direction and strategies.
