In this paper, the Fraunhofer Institute for Structural Durability and System Reliability LBF presents an integrated concept for the cover of the power electronics of an electric powertrain. Vibroacoustic metamaterials can effectively reduce the structure-borne sound propagation and airborne sound radiation in wide frequency ranges, so-called stop bands. Experimental investigations show that a reduction in structure-borne and airborne noise of up to 12 dB in the one-third octave bands between 315 and 1000 Hz can be achieved. …
