A Study of Elastomeric Fire- and Heat-Resistant Materials Containing Functionally Active Structures

Abstract

In this paper, we consider the effect of the introduction of functionally active structures of the supramolecular type on the physical and mechanical, thermophysical and heat-resistant characteristics of elastomeric compositions based on ethylene–propylene–diene rubber. The presence of aluminosilicate microspheres, carbon microfiber, and organophosphorus oligomer in the composition of these structures contributes to the manifestation of a synergistic effect, which consists in increasing the heat-shielding properties of the material due to increasing the strength of the coke and enhancing the processes of carbonization of the material. This leads to an increase in the heating time of the unheated sample surface by 8–17% and a decrease in the rate of linear combustion by 6–17% as compared with known analogues. Microspheres allow compensating the negative effect of microfiber on the density and thermal conductivity of the composition.
