The increasing number of powertrain variations like front-wheel drive, all-wheel drive mechanical, all-wheel drive electrical, hybrid electric and battery electric drive on a vehicle platform is leading to a rise in system complexity. GKN has developed a modular axle concept in order to reduce the associated efforts. The aim is to enable a cost-effective differentiation of the drivetrain using a high number of the same components for the entire mechatronic system. …
