Hyundai has unveiled the second model of its Ioniq sub-brand. The aerodynamically shaped sedan Ioniq 6 offers more than 610 km range according to WLTP, depending on the version.

Korean automaker Hyundai has unveiled the second model of its electric sub-brand Ioniq. The new Hyundai Ioniq 6 is based on the Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and measures 4.855 mm long, 1.880 mm wide and 1.495 mm high. The streamlined sedan has an independent design language and stands out clearly from the angular Ioniq 5. The "Parametric Pixel Design" introduced there can be found on the Ioniq 6 on the headlights, under the sensor on the front apron and the taillights. The drag coefficient of 0.21 is achieved, for example, by the flat front, active air vents, the fully clad underbody or the optional digital exterior mirrors. An elliptical spoiler is found at the rounded rear. Wheels range in size from 18 to 20".

The wheelbase of 2.995 mm indicates the generous space of the cabin, which is shifted forward and backward. Sustainable interior materials include a bio-rubber blend for the dashboard, bio-PET fabric for the headliner, bio-paint made from vegetable oils for the door panels and recycled fishing nets for the carpet. The seats are made of either eco-treated leather or recycled PET fabric and can be equipped with an optional relax function in the front. The driver looks at a digital instrument cluster, and a 12" touchscreen is available for the infotainment system. The OTA-enabled system offers, among other things, a real-time map display of the driving radius based on the current charge status and integrates Apple Carplay and Android Auto.

Also on board is a two-tone ambient lighting system that can change the brightness of the interior lighting in the front row of seats based on the speed of the vehicle via the "Speed Sync" lighting mode. The extensive driver assistance systems include adaptive cruise control, intelligent traffic sign recognition, lane departure warning or Highway Assist 2.0 (HDA 2), which supports semi-automatic lane changes. The autonomous driving functions can also be updated via OTA.

The Ioniq 6 is offered with various battery and engine packages and, depending on the version, offers more than 610 km of range according to WLTP with the large 77.4-kWh battery. The variant with a standard 53-kWh battery, 18'' wheels and rear-wheel drive is expected to have a WLTP consumption of less than 14 kWh/100 km (preliminary data). The 77.4 kWh battery can be ordered with one electric motor and rear-wheel drive or with two electric motors and all-wheel drive. The top model offers a system output of 239 kW (325 PS) and maximum torque of 605 Nm. The "EV Performance Tune-up System" allows the driver to configure steering, power, gas pedal sensitivity and a manually selectable all-wheel drive. The Ioniq 6 also supports both 400-V and 800-V systems. At a 350-kW charging station, the battery of the electric sedan charges from 10 to 80 % SoC in 18 min.
