Abstract

The article explores the stability of bolt-supported concealed bedding rock slopes (CBRSs) prone to bi-planar failure, a common issue in engineering projects like mountain roads and open-pit mining. It delves into the mechanisms of bi-planar failure, the role of fully grouted bolts in enhancing slope stability, and introduces a novel method for assessing the stability of bolted CBRSs. The method involves establishing a bi-planar mechanical model and applying limit equilibrium theory, followed by a parametric analysis of bolt angles, diameters, and locations. The study also includes numerical simulations using UDEC to validate the theoretical approach. The findings highlight the optimal bolt angle and diameter for maximizing slope stability and the effectiveness of bolts in preventing large-scale landslides.
