Abstract

The article delves into the pressing issue of bacterial infections and the limitations of conventional antibacterial agents. It introduces silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) as a promising alternative, highlighting their broad-spectrum antibacterial properties. The challenge of nanoparticle leaching during washing is addressed, leading to the exploration of surface modification techniques for durable finishes. The novel use of 3-chloro-2-hydroxypropyl trimethyl ammonium chloride (CHPTAC) for fabric pre-treatment is proposed, aiming to enhance the durability of AgNP coatings on cotton fabric. The structural characterization of the AgNP-coated fabric and the effects of CHPTAC pre-treatment are investigated, offering a promising solution for sustainable and effective antibacterial textile finishes.
