Abstract

The article delves into the advancements in microfibrillated cellulose (MFC) films by combining glycerol plasticization and hot-pressing treatment. It highlights the challenges of brittleness and low water resistance in MFC films and introduces a novel approach to overcome these limitations. The study demonstrates that the addition of glycerol enhances the flexibility and stretchability of MFC films, while hot-pressing improves their water resistance and mechanical strength. The combination of these methods results in MFC films with superior properties, making them suitable for various advanced applications, such as printed electronics and biosensors. The article also discusses the morphological changes, mechanical properties, water-resistant characteristics, and surface energy of the modified MFC films, providing a thorough understanding of the underlying mechanisms and potential applications.
