Abstract

The article 'Synchronous Reluctance Motor Performance Improvement Using a Seven-Level and Nine-Level Inverter Topologies' delves into the advancements in electrical motor technology driven by industrial development. It highlights the necessity of high-quality supply voltages for powerful electrical machines and the role of solid-state power electronics in optimizing AC motor performance. The focus is on synchronous reluctance motors (SynRMs), which offer high dynamic adjustment, power-to-weight ratio, and reliability. The research examines the drawbacks of classical two-level inverters and introduces multilevel inverter topologies, specifically seven-level and nine-level inverters, to enhance output voltage quality and mitigate associated problems. The proposed control strategies, designed and assessed in MATLAB/Simulink, demonstrate significant improvements in motor performance under transient and steady-state conditions. The article concludes with a comparison of the conventional two-level inverter with the proposed multilevel inverter topologies, showcasing reduced torque and current ripples. The research opens avenues for further enhancements, such as the integration of fuzzy logic controllers and extended Kalman filters.
