This paper deals with the mathematical modelling of coupled fluid flow and solid deformation problems. A novel mathematical technique for linking of the two sets of governing equations in a single model has been proposed. Results obtained by this technique using a range of power-law index for fluid flow simulation and elasticity modulus for the solid displacement are presented and discussed. Changing the rheological behaviour of the fluid has a significant effect on the deformation of the solid. These results are found to be self consistent and as expected from a theoretical point of view.
