This paper describes numerical investigations of active flow control on the flap of a three-element high-lift configuration at a Reynolds number of
Re
= 750 000. The flow is perturbed by periodic blowing and suction through slots near the leading edge of the flap. In previous investigations the influence of actuation intensity and frequency, as well as the duty cycle has been assessed. The main focus of this paper is on comparing in what manner the flow field reacts to a segmentation of the actuation in spanwise direction in contrast to a continuous slot. Then a phase shifting of the blowing and suction on the actuation segments is evaluated.
