Zusammenfassung

Climate Engineering beschreibt die Idee, der globalen Erderwärmung durch gezielte technologische Eingriffe in das Klimasystem entgegenzuwirken. Dieser Beitrag zeigt, wie Climate Engineering zu einer klimapolitischen Option werden konnte, wie diese Option aktuell verhandelt wird und was das für die zukünftige Auseinandersetzung mit diesen umstrittenen Maßnahmen bedeutet. Im Zentrum steht dabei die Frage, wie sich im Fall von Climate Engineering wissenschaftliche mit gesellschaftspolitischen Interessen verknüpfen. Der Beitrag illustriert diese Verknüpfung in historischer, struktureller und epistemischer Hinsicht.
