Chapter 2. Unleashing the Power of Data
Abstract
It is often said that the second most recognized phrase in the world, after "OK," is "Coca Cola." Now, imagine the impact of a single gesture from Cristiano Ronaldo, with his massive following of 550 million on various social media sites, during a press conference after Portugal's opening match at UEFA Euro 2021. Ronaldo chose to drink water instead of the Coca Cola soft drink, resulting in a 1.6% drop in Coca Cola's share value, according to Nasdaq. The Twitter images are shown in Figure 2-1. Despite the millions Coca Cola had invested in tournament sponsorship, the market capitalization dropped by over $4Bn. How could this happen?

Chapter 3. Improving Productivity with New Digital Toolsets
Abstract
In Chapter 2, we explored the rapid pace of innovation and various digital tool sets that enhance our comprehension of big data, digital principles, and data manipulation. Building a mentality of acquiring new skills and shedding outdated knowledge is fundamental to being effective in this space. Being comfortable with new digital tools and exploring and practicing with new tool sets should be integral to other day-to-day activities to succeed. In the following chapters, we will apply some simple tool sets to develop a mobile app loyalty solution for the Landis Car Hire case example we discussed in Chapter 2. We will harness the sensor data from Landis Car Hire, as provided in the Appendix, to extract valuable insights regarding the showroom and forecourt facility's staff utilization. By using this data we hope to enhance the efficiency of showroom operations and the performance of our staff.
