The main purpose of this discussion is to clarify some aspects that seemed to the discusser not very clear. First of all, it is not clear that the paper is related to reinforcement with metallic strips. The inclusion of a reference related to the internal stability of geosynthetic reinforced retaining walls (Holtz and Lee 2002), which is not properly presented, can lead to some doubts. For geosynthetic reinforced soil structures other failure mechanisms should be considered (Jewell 1996; Vieira et al. 2011). …
