Abstract
The day that Prince died left our world in mourning and celebration. For some of us millennials, the first few calls that went out were to our parents. As I talked to my mother on that day, various inquiries presented themselves, the bulk of which had to do with how and why through our vast differences, my mother and I were able to meet at Prince. In this reflection, I expand on a conversation that I had with my mother during my first visit back home after Prince died. The conversation answered my questions about Prince’s ability to unite us through his artistry and life.
