Examples of Architectural Databases

The typological knowledge of an architecture, its documentation and filing for monitoring, safeguard, maintenance and management is strictly connected to a pre-defined survey of the constructive systems, with their components and characteristics, like shape, morphology, dimensions, materials and so on.Surveying techniques are therefore a basic tool for each plan on a monument, able to perform understanding of different significative aspects.Besides, every architectural heritage is part of environmental and urban sites: so the range of operations has to be widened, taking in account the reciprocal actions between building and its surroundings.Paper deals with these themes and presents some examples related to the process of vector and raster information in hybrid databases.
